How is the second trilogy relative to the first?

No - I actually don't really get into true fantasy that much. I need some element of futurism to get me hooked, so science fantasy is the sweet spot for me.

such a good one, have you read The Way Of Kings?

I enjoyed this series a lot more than I expected to. I thought of it as Dune meets Hunger Games.

Thanks again for the recommendation, @v. It took me a while, but I finally finished all six of the published volumes in this series. My only complaint is that the author is still working on the final volume and I want to read it now.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just finished the first book in the series and enjoyed it. At times it felt like a mashup of Ilium, Hunger Games, and Ender’s Game. Looking forward to the next volume.
