Our top priority this week is fixing spam in popular channels. The core problem is: - Channels with large distribution attract casters - Some casters post spam or even just slightly off topic stuff - Moderating it is exhausting and thankless We want to find a solution that can be decentralized across clients.

The main goals are: - Make the channel high quality for the average viewer - Minimize actions the host needs to take - Be easily decentralizable

Moderation is hard. Automation tools are key, and LLMs are surprisingly useful to define and apply policies (might be a good lever here)

I love that this boils down to β€˜how do we solve content moderation’. So ambitious. Keep killing it! So curious how you will approach this!

- to let users moderate themselves: show a small form under the cast with "Do you think this is related to /channel-name?" – "yes"/"no". Correct bet gives warps to users. this would be something to show not frequently, ideally once/twice per session. an exponential cooldown to spammer to cast in channels.

this might be my assumption, but it was ideal for moderators to be delegated/grounded to the niche. the problem as I see it is that a feed w/ only positive signal is dilutive, so the solution would have to be deliberate pinning/dilution. do you see the FIP-2 spec being iterated?

thx v im spending a decent amy of time hiding and removing spam in /mfers β€” not overwhelming at this point but i know it will get to that point as we continue to grow the channel and farcaster in general

Add a spam button, the community can decide if it's spam. Accounts spamming can receive automated warnings, suspensions and bans from channels.

A tool for users in channel to mark casts as spam and for hosts to β€œpull warps” from users who spam the channel. Need x # of users to mark spam to be able to punish user for posting spam to avoid hosts abusing it. Warps go to users who are policing content and hosts. Or some other incentive or penalty structure?

what if moderating is not thankless? The right incentives usually help.
