I think these are fundamental social contracts that are hard to change, and content coins don't fit neatly into them today. It could be collect but the aesthetics are not dialed in. Why am I collecting 1,123,890 of these? Will having this give me smile when i see it next? Will someone have a conversation with me about this? It could be invest (or speculate), but where do gains come from? Creators don't want to pump for good reason, so the best hope is that it becomes a meme despite the creators intent. Pump works because meme creators are unabashedly pumping. There also isn't any scarcity or exclusivity (literally billions of things!) It could be sponsor but it feels so indirect. The creator doesn't even know who is buying their coins in most cases and they don't get any status in return.

Yeah, I mostly agree with that. The only one I’m skeptical about is “invest.” Most creators who go viral don’t need investment, and you don’t need investment to go viral. Would you or @ted ever take investment for the stuff you’re posting? Probably not. Who would? It’s just not worth the obligation or giving up upside.

Also, this mostly frames a p2p creator economy — which is interesting, but I still think platforms will capture most of the value, then redistribute. Open to more data, but feels like the default.

Absolutely love this breakdown! Those 4 are spot on 🔥 I would add a 5th: "royalties" The idea that as others sponsor, collect, invest, or buy, creators benefit over time as their content accrues value. The promise of long-term upside for original work. And what better way to track and honor royalties than putting them onchain.

Creators earn per transaction. This is similar to earning for views on YouTube. Except on YT it takes hella long to build an audience & get paid (best of luck).
