Hey all - just wanted to share some of my concerns about the public nature of our casts/behavior on FC.

Hoping for an open dialogue on where we think this is headed, and in the long run, how to provide privacy protections from a user content perspective.

broadly speaking, there are two kinds of social networks - public (twitter, reddit) and private (facebook, snapchat) 

in a private network, encryption matters a lot because what you're saying should only be seen by trusted friends. 

in a public network, it doesn't matter because the intent is for *everyone* to see it

I don't consider Twitter to be public. It (sorta) was when I used to build on top of their firehose in the early days, but it's much more limited now

My question still stands - if FC's goal is 1B+ DAU, that will require MANY mainstream adopters

What does it mean to have "another Cambridge Analytica" on Farcaster?

I don't understand what "hyper-targeted manipulation at scale" means in this context.

First, let me be clear. I'm talking about at scale, not next 12 months.

An example would be hyper-targeted manipulation at scale to influence everything from public policy to politics using bots

The larger FC gets, the larger the target will be on its back, and it will be fairly easy for any motivated party to do it
