We're shutting down the x-posting experiment. For a few months, we've been testing a feature with a few users to cross posts their tweets from X to Farcaster. We're shutting it down because we can't get it to work reliably with the current APIs, and when it fails it's really frustrating for users.

Difference in content types make this really hard to work 100%. It's also not achieving the goal of increasing conversations. People who x-post don't use the app any more frequently. People who see x-posts are les likely to engage because the content isn't authentic to FC.

while x-posted accounts don’t reply here - I did find them useful for discovering their x content. I understand that’s not helping farcaster, it actually helps x.

I think one solution for them could be to use an aggregator like @fireflyapp . It would allow them to cross-post while still having control over what content goes where. Not everyone posts the same content across all their socials, and sometimes audiences differ between platforms. This way, they can choose which content fits each platform best without sacrificing authenticity.

I didn't understand, it seemed like it was working great. If anything it should be expanded so all posts on X by any popular account is automatically posted here and up the quality of the content

Tbh, I found it more of a nuisance having them make their way to my feed at times, despite not following them. It was also obvious the casts were intended for X, so yeah, good move. 👍
