Zora and Rodeo rely on low cost, high volume business models. Onchain creators are skeptical. Yet, neither exudes confidence in brand messaging: -Zora: you post here -Rodeo: you experiment here Zora's token model wins, but they need to onboard the existing talented onchain creators who remain skeptical (more interesting content actually true here. Selling social posts isn't what onchain creators want. Rodeo...idk. Sad that VC money dictated a meta that seemingly avoids building for onchain creatives, of which there are tonnes

I still have mixed feelings about both, not really fan of this really low cost model, but i really like the $enjoy tipping on Zora.

I’ve been playing around with minting ever since our chat. I’ve even had a few people collect! As I earn sparks I collect other people’s work. The flywheel is there for sure. My issue is personal discovery. I still end up mostly finding stuff outside of Zora and often forget to open the app and browse. Not sure what will create that stickiness.

I see the posting value prop for both of them, but how do they encourage a community of patrons? Zora’s value prop “post == get paid” makes sense, but long term how do they attract the collectors?

Not following the VC money dictating a meta part. Both projects are venture backed (Rodeo via the parent company Foundation). I think the better framing is that in its current form building for onchain creatives has historically not produced venture runs and that feels accurate to me. Case studies like SuperRare and RARE show there is a path here - but I agree it's a very different path and probably for the better

idk man, but trying to look from the outside — and perhaps as an outsider —, rodeo’s brand messaging seems clearer and more convincing to me: post what you’re creating (not what you’ve already created) and earn from it in the process. it kinda sets the stage for then going FND for when the piece is final (im def still a believer of mainnet for that). if i go to zora, i see a feed like any other. no idea what it is and how it works. maybe their socials deliver that but 🤷‍♂️

Try to look at it from this side, when the main value for the creator is to be conditionally popular, when your art is appreciated, but it is accessible to many and can be viral. I think Zora is about this and a cheap model is necessary here. If they manage to attract more users, then maybe it will work. But it is definitely necessary to work on the mechanics, because a mint for a quarter is expensive for some people, but even cheaper it is pointless.
