Interesting question that reflects previous and current metas of the onchain creative economy. For @enjoytech.eth, we're forming thinking about three general personas: -Creators -Curators -Speculators Trouble is, these roles are not mutually exclusive. Perhaps then, it's not about defining personas from the perspective of roles, but actions: -Creating -Curating -Speculating When you frame the audience through action, it's much easier to create a reputation system tied to behaviors. Now, someone who identifies as an Artist or Collector can build reputation through creating and curating. Problems w/ curation: -Too few ways to do so -Poorly leveraged/surfaced via reputation systems -Poorly incentivized (big) The question shouldn't be which would you rather; there should be a variety of ways to curate with a variety of orders of financial magnitude. Whether I tip, bid, add to a gallery, share, or otherwise, it should be incentivized and measured.

I wonder how streaming giants like Spotify evaluate the work of playlist curators. And do they have an analytical evaluation system for the effectiveness of user playlists. Surely there are cases when a user playlist brings in no less money than a playlist of a full-time employee.

We had a similar situation in trying to better understand writers vs readers — almost all writers are also readers, making it hard to draw boundaries between the two. We ended up talking about them more so as “modes”: people are sometimes in Writer mode, and other times in Reader mode, and what they want to do (say, within a product or on a given surface) depends on what mode they’re in.
