I’m just speaking for myself here but every day it’s harder for me with her. It’s not her trying to appeal to the right by itself. It’s bringing Dick Cheney into the fold in the context of how little she’s done to do the same for people further on the left. Especially where Gaza is concerned. The gestures don’t have to be grand but they are glaringly absent

The way I see it, any position I have that represents a political power minority is not likely to be the path to obtaining the power I need to enact different policy. 

It’s a Machiavellian game, made worse by non-proportional, non-majoritarian republic structures like the Senate and Electoral College.

I don’t need a superhero to inspire me. I need an operative to do whatever it takes to penetrate power. Warmly acknowledging people like me might not be that operative’s winning strategy.

But what if it is the winning strategy? I think it is. She should be doing more for the left not just because it’s right but because it’s a winning strategy (imo).  Most aren’t asking asking for grand promises. Any genuine acknowledgment would be nice

I don’t see it. Nobody knows, right? But his base is a cult of personality. Although the Democrats are looking more like something similar, it’s not the same (yet).  I don’t know recent statistics but most Americans want to see more action being taken on this front. I realize this is risky business but to my bones, I feel this would be a positive pivot for her campaign

To my earlier point-- wouldn’t the condition under which appeasing leftists is Harris’s winning strategy also be a reality in which her base is less loyal to her than Donald Trump’s base is to him?

If Harris’s base is innately less loyal and less tolerant of her appeasing behavior towards the opposite side— hasn’t that base lost the election because they’re not being as good a base for their candidate as the opposition is for theirs?
