is anyone else here a recovering "yes addict"? it feels like it comes from the powerful but deadly combo of FOMO/people-pleasing/love of possibilities + serendipity. im learning to love the power of no but honestly its hard i need a nicotine patch to recover from my years of conditioning of yes haha

I reached a point in a prev organization where I wanted everyone to like me and I’d say yes to everything. I burned myself out, and became miserable to work with. I say no to keep myself sane, and so that I’m a kinder person to my colleagues.

As another recovering "yes addict" ("fawning") who has spent some years going down the road to recovery, it's a beautiful and transformative healing journey into the lands of self-compassion, intention and joy. My life has improved immeasurably on that journey. May yours too <3
