when i was training with the national team, we lived and died by this mantra:

“if you’re early, you’re on time.
if you’re on time, you’re late.
if you’re late, you’re fucked.”

the entire team would have to do sprints if anyone was late. 

insane for me to fathom that 10 minutes late could be a norm.

This was true in every sport for me as well. Definitely not the case with my kids’ teams, but you’d better believe we will be there early. And ready to practice — not get our shoes on, not stretch, not warm up — at the start time.
