my current pixel 7a battery life has become complete garbage. so going to order a new phone soon and then 100% going to give ethos a spin on the 7a. So excited to finally try it out, just didn't want to risk it on my primary/only phone

Battery replacement is not an option? I have done this on a couple of occasions in the past and have extended the life of the device and saved money.
