With the right large algorithm the entire works of Shakespeare can be extracted from any random data. With the right small algorithm, e.g. understanding English, the entire works of Shakespeare can be extracted from the entire works of Shakespeare. In each case the entropy of the system is the same. Either you need an algorithm that can extract the works of Shakespeare from randomness, in which case the algorithm will have entropy equal to the works of Shakespeare itself, or the algorithm will be small (understand English) and the data will be patterned (Shakespeare). So entropy(massive_algorithm(randomness)) = entropy(understand_english(works_of_shakespeare)) This is why the factoid that the entire works of Shakespeare can be found within the digits of pi is not as awesome as it initially seems. This is true for literally any data set in the universe, given the right algorithm. Either the information is in the data set and the algorithm is small, or the information is stored in the algorithm.

Magma’s are the Eevee of algebraic structures. A magma consists of a set equipped with a single binary operation that must be closed by definition. No other properties are imposed. It’s common to find these various algebraic Pokémon in your travels. I like to think of them as evolved Magma’s. If you give your magma an associativity stone it will turn into a semi-group, if you give it the identity stone too it will become a monoid!

Why does Warpcast make me feel like shit? I considering deleting it. It gives me so many good things, I learn a lot, but the fact is it makes me feel like shit. Can someone explain this to me. I don’t want to throw the baby out with the bath water.

I have found that swiping on socials or flicking through short-videos cuts down the effect of a trip dramatically, up to the point that I can forget im tripping. I have a theory that this dampening is happening also when one is not on psychedelics, and it accounts for the sickly feeling one gets from rapid content switching. Has anyone read any research on this phenomenon?

I’ve just returned from my first 10-day silent meditation retreat, and it absolutely blew my mind to experience sensations that would normally require 2 grams of dried mushrooms. All from observing the breath!

Trig identities are beautiful once you learn to derive them. cos(a - b) = cos(a)cos(b) + sin(a)sin(b) cos(a + b) = cos(a)cos(b) - sin(a)sin(b) sin(a + b) = sin(a)cos(b) + cos(a)sin(b) sin(a - b) = sin(a)cos(b) - cos(a)sin(b) It is more helpful to copy out the derivations than to copy out the identities themselves.

Are there any special properties of a finite field if it is of a prime order that is also a twin prime (p = 13, p-2 =11), compared to a prime order that is not a twin prime (p = 17, p - 2 = 15) ? Which is to say, does F(13) have different generalisable properties to F(17)?
