With the common misnomer of using Warpcast and Farcaster interchangeably, I wonder how much it might have helped switching the -er. Farcast: sounds like a noun, abstract Warpcaster: sounds like a tool like ruler, calculator, etc.

Maybe so, but "farcaster" is named after a specific technology in the Hyperion books. It would be kind of weird to mess with that.
