As someone very active in the @base and Clanker ecosystems, I wanted to say a few words about today’s drama. First of all, as many have said before, this team is extremely cracked. @dish is an amazing dev and an even better person. @btayengco, @m00npapi.eth, @fffflood, @lobstermindset.eth — legends, all. The fact that they’ve trauma-bonded and pulled together to move forward in this moment when the temptation could be to cut and run is, in my view, very long-term bullish. There will obviously be uncertainty and volatility, as with anything of this nature, but I don’t doubt the team will continue to ship and support the ecosystem they’ve helped build. [cont…]

Now, as far as thoughts on Proxy himself (Alex) — tbh, I’m still kind of processing everything, so this is more of a stream of consciousness dump than anything, but; What he did in 2022 was obviously very wrong. He knows it. Everyone now knows it. It hurt a lot of people. Levered gambling is a hell of a drug, and unfortunately, he let it ruin his life and reputation — and the lives of many others at the same time. Brutal. Stepping away from Clanker was the only move here obviously, given the amount of trust broken and the amount of capital involved. Solid take as always. I wonder if what could have been a better bet. Should @proxystudio.eth have disclosed before the involvement with clanker? Hindsight is always 20/20. So no one really can say. No one is really going to know what the thought process was except for him. At the same time. When it’s hardest, that’s when you have to find ways to forgive. I hope the fellow is strong through this and learns about transparency, to the best of his ability. People can change, and it’s hard. But it can happen. Wish everyone the best here.

This is beautiful @toadyhawk.eth . “Markets gonna market” is the most brutal truth. We are so quick to ‘swipe left’ on anything and anyone that isn’t perfect. If Alex was critical to Clanker’s success, Clanker doesn’t exist with pre-disclosure. And @clanker has done so much good, so that would’ve have been a shame. (Even though @tokenbot is going to comment here and deflect my compliment). I might be too optimistic, but I think a post-mortem from @proxystudio.eth on everything pre-Clanker and post-Clanker if Alex is going to keep building in this space. Redemption isn’t guaranteed, but in most cases only hurt people hurt people. There’s a human story behind his actions and that story isn’t over just because we all swipe left. Also,👊 👍 to @dish and team for quick and open communication.
