TIL that Wordle was created by a guy named Josh Wardle (heh) & the code was open source. (Previously, he was also the guy who created the infamous Reddit /place!) Anyway, he made Wordle for friends & fam, they shared it and it went viral, he then sold to NYT for 6 figs despite the code being OS— you love to see it!

very much agree with this I don't ever hear the complaint about it being "hard to grow an account" from people who are here for the right reasons, replying, doing things the right way It's usually people who come over from X hoping for an easier time gaming the system
