So apparently the new vocabulary alpha is that these days "games" just means "gambling", and so if you want to talk about actually interesting games you say "e-sports"

Sports are “actually interesting” to many people (including me). But 99.9% of people can not be in the arena — ie, playing, owning a team, being an executive. Having “skin in the game” is a way for more people to feel a part of the game; to prove their insights to themself and others.

Yep I think as kids it doesn't matter But as you get older with less and less time and enter the rat race - skin in the game is what keeps you engaged I enjoy soccer (football haha) but the only times when I've been super engaged since I was younger was when I was betting (IRL/in some game with game money)
