Convenience and possibly yield optimization. Many users are not absolute maximizers…they just want something easy.

Affiliate marketing works for this reason. It’s easier to research something and sign up through an aggregator. That said, would behavior change if people realized they could personally benefit from a few extra clicks? I doubt it, but curious to see.
