Actually @df is probably more right here because he puts the blame on incompetence. I often end up suspecting bad faith

I've been a pretty big WalletConnect hater because it actually never calls back the app where the signature request originates. I always thought that this and the bad latency of WalletConnect were caused by their incompetency. Only recently I have learned that Mobile Wallet Protocol from Coinbase is already using deep linking between DApp and Wallet to send messages like RequestAccount and SendTransaction. In MWP you don't need an internet connection to sign an Ethereum transaction and so this makes it super fast to do interactions between Wallets and DApps. However, this only works for mobile applications that are registered on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store because the callback in MWP needs to be able to send data back to the DApp by calling the bundle identifier of the app. And neither a PWA nor a tab in a user's browser has an addressable identifier that MWP could call. Hat tip to @dwr.eth because he was arguably always right that you cannot do better UX with PWAs

In 2018/2019 Rainbow wallet emerged as the builders’ darling because its UX was 10x better than that of Metamask. Builders pushed Rainbow because it promised to bring more consumers to dapps. Since then builders have helped Rainbow to grow. But Rainbow is turning out to be builder unaligned. What have they contributed to the ecosystem versus what have they extracted? There is now an entire screen on Rainbow dedicated to illegally launching memecoins in the EU. Rainbow in Germany is available for 5 year olds. Forward looking, why as a builder would I want to build on Rainbow? Casinos are clearly for 18+. Why would I chose a casino as a gateway to my news website? It feels really icky. It‘s arguably more likely now that Rainbow is going to be regulated similar to a virtual slot machine, not an app browser. And that sucks

„Robin Hood games“ as @vitalilk-eth laid them out in that post: 1. Take the money from the rich (Americans) 2. give it to the poor (/europoooooor)

Not a sufficient answer. Those who are unaware and haven‘t gone through a Mileicoin type of memecoin crisis will be the most vulnerable to deal with memecoins after onboarding Warpcast. @dwr.eth said he wants to follow @vitalik.eth‘s memecoin blog post to build „Robin Hood games.“ How is Merkle going to assure that the new arrivals aren‘t going to be rugged?

In the EU and as a software developer with a specialization in cryptocurrencies, you have no reason to cheer on the build out of meme coins as a technical infrastructure on Ethereum. The Micar regulation is inherently hostile towards anonymously launching meme coins. The way to win meme coins is usually by rugging other people and being early. The Micar regulation mandates that the coin issuer doxxes themselves by publishing a white paper. This makes you as a EU citizen responsible and accountable for anything bad that may happen with the meme coin that you've launched. There are white paper proof of concepts from law faculties. They are very extensive and an issuer has to fill out far more than five to ten fields. As an EU citizen and software developer, aside from gambling, you hardly have any upside in the meme coin pipeline build out unless you are willing to leave your home.

I swear we could already be much richer if we didn‘t muddy the waters between real technical intrinsic values and scams At least if there‘s real technical intrinsic value you can exit for some time or take duration risk

The memecoins that made people money on here were technical innovations - Clanker (intrinsic value of the launch pad) - Degen (tipping on FC) - etc All other pure memecoins were pure luck if you exited them profitable.

Tbh I‘m not ashamed by this as Ethereum investors we have to stay open minded about what method we want to use to generate fee accrual to the protocol, and today I believe that memecoins are not it I tried memecoins and I have discovered that snipers are a problem. So what‘s so funny?
