Does anyone live outside a tech hub but travel to it frequently (~one week a month)? How does that compare to living in a hub full time, in terms of work productivity, networking, opportunities, etc?

I live in Vancouver which isn’t really a tech hub (though some tech/crypto people are here!), usually aim for a weeklong trip every 3-4 months. Lived in SF for one year, in a house with GOOG/YC people, don’t think it was much more productive tbh.

Definitely depends on your personality, I guess? Some people like always being around others to generate ideas. I like to work independently and let the stuff that’s easier F2F “pile up” to make trips very valuable.

Pretty sure at least 50%+ of Ethereum protocol people don’t live in major tech hubs, and when we organize F2F stuff after a while, we tend to get ~1 mo of async equivalent work per day in person. Caveat being enough stuff needs to “have piled up”.
