Live from Farcon: Base has zero plans for a token. They're enamored with the blooming token economy, led by DEGEN, and want to encourage growth. Moreover, a token would be regressive, in Jesse's view, and Base team would rather decentralize the network "the hard way", w/o one.

TLDR: No Base token. Degen to $1.

Kudos to Base for confirming no L2 token.

Definitely agree with @jessepollak that you don't need a token to decentralize governance on a permissionless network. Good projects, teams, and tokens will rise to the top.

Exactly! And Base is planning to build on the OP Stack so why not share governance and codebase and Base can focus on building ecosystem partners as a point of differentiation
