if you think crypto UX is bad, wait till you try sending/receiving a wire transfer it would be hard to conceive of a more opaque, unfriendly, and inefficient system for sending funds

the fact that I can’t use an app to send a wire transfer in the year 2025 blows my mind on a regular basis you must physically present yourself at a bank branch and speak with a teller who is 23 years old

Well an old school wire, no. But there is Interac e-transfer for domestic wires in Canada. They’re near instant and the low fees ($1,50 or so per tx) are usually covered by the bank. Internationally the best (non-crypto) option is Wise. Cost is relatively low, it’s fast (a few hours compared to wires many days), and recipient can receive in their preferred funds and spend immediately.

I have long argued that the immediate pmf for crypto is foreign remittances. There is a caveat though. Most on-ramps and off-ramps in are quite greedy. Even Coinbase charges like 3.5% or something wild. Still beats the hell out of WesternUnion
