Worth noting though that most people actually ingest far more information today, including educational content, and including words. Just far fewer books. 

Also worth noting that the books most teens were reading were rarely historical fiction, renowned literature, or anything that was really making one think.

I still see this as a negative thing, but this graph implies a reality that never existed. As an avid reader who grew up through the duration of this chart, I just wanted to add that perspective.
