Qualified DoD officials:

The Pentagon on Friday failed its seventh audit in a row, with the nation’s largest government agency still unable to fully account for its more than $824 billion budget, though officials stress they are making good progress toward a clean audit in 2028.

If any other organization other than the gang of thieves and murderers who refer to themselves as the "government", failed audits constantly and were incapable of balancing a budget, they would fail and nobody would give them any more money.

The government can do as horrible a job as it wants and still get funded every year because they have a monopoly on violence and threaten you if you don't give them your money. Even if you refuse to pay taxes, they will still steal your money through inflation. This arrangement is untenable, it provides no incentives for the government to do a good job and relies on coercion and violence. 

Their "authority" is 100% illegitimate and immoral, and they have successfully brainwashed the citizenry into believing otherwise.
