Interesting proposal, I would add the ability to utilize a dns name or ens as your channel name. Since I own NeuraName.com I could create FCID #xyz and then do a verification from dns records to use that as my channel name. Same with ENS.

I generally like this idea and would love to see it in action, but I worry about 2%. For example, /ethereum has 78K followers, what's a reasonable price to set for something that is not monetized? $100/yr is $5,000 which is within realm of a troll purchase. Maybe % adjusted down relative to # followers?

Well thought and presented idea @thibauld! Immediately as I saw the title, I thought of Harberger tax :-) My main concern of letting clients decide on naming is the fragmentation which kind of lose the whole purpose of carrying my social experience with me no matter which app I'm using. But might be that's the price...

why not just make channels use ENS like FIDs do? otherwise, if you're auctioning off FCIDs you're not actually getting the name and you're auctioning off the followers of the channel with the FCID. Squatting is on brand-names whereas having a following is called community building not squatting.
