Comic 4. Hard Forks Hard Forks was published on September 10, 2017, shortly after Bitcoin underwent the Bitcoin Cash hard fork. For a brief moment, Bitcoin Cash surged to nearly a third of Bitcoin’s value, sparking speculation that it could challenge Bitcoin’s dominance. However, its price soon collapsed, reaffirming Bitcoin’s position as the true Bitcoin. The comic contrasts this outcome with Ethereum’s hard fork two years earlier, where Ethereum Classic (ETC) quickly lost value, highlighting the differing trajectories of these blockchain splits.

Comic 3. DarkCoin "DarkCoin" was published on September 8, 2017. By that time, DarkCoin had already rebranded as Dash in an effort to become a more legitimate peer-to-peer currency. The comic's title pays homage to DarkCoin’s shady past. The joke revolves around Bitcoin and DarkCoin no longer being part of the Dark Web, leaving them with nothing in common anymore. This mirrors real life, where friendships built on partying can feel empty once alcohol and drugs are no longer in the picture. Notably, this comic also marks the first-ever appearance of Dogecoin in the series.

Comic 2. Ferris Wheel At the time that 'Ferris Wheel' was published, EVM tokens were still a novel concept. Every day, tokens were being launched under the promise of a new world order of decentralization. Token launches were conducted using ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings), requiring investors to exchange ETH in return for an allocation. As is predictable, numerous tokens were scams or based on farfetched ideas. But as the mania heated up in the months following, ICOs grew only more popular. The fundraising model finally collapsed when the 2018 bear market hit, and even to this day ICOs are rarely used in cryptocurrency.

Comic 1. Baby This is the first webcomic I published on September 6, 2017, when Bitcoin was priced at $4597 and Litecoin at $82. At the time, many P2P currencies were trying to surpass Bitcoin, while Litecoin positioned itself as Bitcoin’s “silver.” Over the years, the comic has explored the complex father-son dynamic between the two, shaped by Bitcoin’s trauma from Satoshi’s disappearance and Litecoin’s ongoing self-doubt.
