smart tvs. not often very smart. quite slow usually. horrible ui. horrible ux. loads of lag. computer chip in there directly correlated with price tho u must assume. only good smart tv ive ever had is my sony bravia uhd super nerd thing i got last year. google tv good ui

I recently got Samsung Q80C and have been loving it! Had to get it calibrated which was annoying though. UI is smooth. Picture + sounds 9.5/10

yeah i have the same tv and it's solid but still not very fast. not slow enough to justify using something else -- its not actually slower than the other tv with a firestick -- but def room for improvement. smart tv is definitely a stupid name. it's 2024 -- it's just a f-in tv.

My hottest take is that you should just get an Apple TV and plug it into whatever TV you buy. The $150 is absolutely worth it to have a great user experience regardless of the TV.

Yeah I strictly buy "dumb" tvs to avoid all the bloat (spectre is my go to cheap brand the tvs are amazing imo) I also had to dev for tvOS and NEVER FUCKING AGAIN

If it were economical to do it, get a massive monitor and just set u a stream box with it. Smart tvs really are such ass like 90% of the time. GoogleTV is a good experience though.

Same. Every time I turn my giant Samsung shitter on it starts playing fucken Portlandia or standup comedy and I can’t mute it or change channels/apps for like 15-20 seconds

They also have horrible streaming quality because the cpu/gpus are inferior to streaming devices. Always recommend a separate piece of hardware

Much harder to get a “dumb” tv these days… smart tvs are so much cheaper, fully loaded with ad/spyish ware Good idea to disconnect smart tvs from the internet and use an Apple TV, Fire stick, etc
