since apparently the "build another client, not a priority rn, doesn't drive long term growth, etc" is the default response here (despite the general sense that channels are a rushed, underexplored feature (potential new primitive) where the lack of prioritization and thoughtfulness has led to increased friction and a worse NUX) is anyone building a channel-focused client? i'm incredibly excited about the promise of channels and promise to dedicate a portion of my time, energy, and resources to exploring this with you and supporting you i am a force of nature, as some of you may know, especially when i'm motivated by both the mission and someone telling me i'm wrong

Hard to build a channel-focused client when channels aren't part of the protocol or there's no APIs!

as stated by many devs in replies all over the network without ability to create channels that users on warpcast can interact with and see there is no faith from Devs to take that effort. Building a channel focused client or any client is way more then just building the tech as a demo cozycast is proof of that. people wanted mute, but to enable just mute you need to build a very very good app. not just that one feature.

Currently no way to interact with channels meaningfully outside of warpcast Talks of a new api that other clients can use in the interim to add follows etc That alone will make it a lot easier for teams to rationalize having their feed embedded in their experiences imo

I think if the / channel tags were gamified a bit more in the way #hashtags were on early twitter, it would help. I am curious to see what /wildcardclub does when they release native apps cuz they seem very good at design. https://warpcast.com/jdotfinn/0x4a1f0e10

listing a few opportunities I see here - you make an app for one particular channel and make that the best place for that community - you make an app like flink that fully, fully optimizes for viewing channels, potential channel LEGOs or other features like homepages, etc - you use FIP-2 to create ephemeral channels for actions(i have a feeling that if more folks build on FIP-2 and in their own clients that an app like Warpcast would reconsider how FIP-2 content gets rendered to help for distribution)

just this morning @maretus.eth was talking about the potential of channels in the style of reddit, where channels are allowed to have their own banners and different backgrounds and art styles, at the time, I wasn't a big fan of the idea, then I realized I hadn't had enough weed, and I hadn't double thought it, it would actually be super cool, maybe like you said, a channel-focused client would be the way to go

Channels are a pretty big focus of @sonatatips Every channel we support has a Treasury with the ability to stake and receive a portion of tips and network issuance. Still a lot of work to be done there but we view channels as the glue that ties niche music communities together

a lot of us are super hungry and looking to build alt clients, the trouble is that the infrastructure is super expensive and there is no revenue model we are doing our best to build a plethora of consumer products to support our builds but we are not near the level where the income would support a system needed for a very buttery channel client

/nouns funded a couple of teams to do something similar to this but the 3 teams selected weren’t really focused on making “channel-specific” clients. Here’s my submission: https://prop.house/0x767a3bdf2aa3b3201b794927a997fcf4e50d4702 TBH it’s not really a winning proposition to build something like this for most builders.

FWIW, Ponder topic pages are slated to operate more like Reddit and be channel based. We just haven’t prioritized developing that angle yet as we focus on distribution via in-frame tools.

i have an idea for this but it'd be read only don't think a read+write client for channels would have a lot of demand and would also probably be overkill
