I can rationalize in the car footage, I can’t rationalize the extent of the footage from the charging station :/

gas stations are recording footage 24/7 as well, no? the difference is that Tesla can look up the license plate / car # much more efficiently than every single gas station along the possible route

If their cameras are working correctly, they are recording. But my guess is it's likely on a closed loop system (cctv). Also, the gas station owners can refuse sharing security footage without a subpoena/warrant; obviously we can't guarantee their level of commitment to privacy. However, with this Cybertruck case in particular, it's clear that the privacy of Tesla owners are based on Elon's whim and feelings. Apple too records everything (unless told no) but they are known not to infringe on customers rights without enforcement going through proper channels. & even in that case, I believe law enforcement have been denied. Also, highways typically have security cameras that can look up licenses and vehicles with ease. The issue here is what's Tesla's commitment to their user's privacy and rights? It appears to be not much.

Yes that is the problem lol It turns from “I am using this to record evidence of crimes” to “your every move is being tracked and traced bc u own Tesla”
