My theory is it’s because we’ve failed on the standard metrics like DAU. Without these North Stars rooted in empiricism we all agree upon, how do we know who’s winning? I’ve noticed people pick abstract goals like “zk is the future”. Even within ZK there’s those who say “STARKs is the one true zk”. A paper came out on circle starks where the mob declared it as a huge advancement, but if you read the paper they got like a 1.3x speedup. Wouldn’t be possible if zk had adoption and we could see a chart of rankings. —— We need a leader to rise up and get everyone behind a single goal.

Objectively and from a moral view he has a point. The most transparent, yet hostile, permissionless environment. At the same time the most predatorial marketing techniques due to regulatory gray zones. Any other industry that is worse is technically illegal.

avi is not wrong though we live in a bubble and have grown accustomed to spammy behaviour. anyone else would find it annoying to say the least I think the industry is focused on the wrong metrics right now and this is a great chance to recalibrate less smoke (speculation), more substance (real world apps)

The whole “crypto is objectively the worst industry of all time” is such a ridiculous statement from someone who probably hasn’t worked in any other industries and has not studied history lol nt Here was my comment on twitter to this: “Welp — I disagree — the military industrial complex is the worst industry of all time, followed by the pharmaceutical & health care industries, then the banks. Then crypto can slide into the list. The atrocities of the others are much longer term and extensive. Gonna have to rug much harder to get to the top of the worst industry list. I’m sure I’m missing many many more.” And yes, I realize he’s rage baiting for engagement but if you’re going to make a statement like that back it up with data.
