this reminds me of steve jobs’ “do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life or come with me and change the world?" humans are biologically wired to need purpose; it is a biological function involving the most evolutionarily primitive parts if our brain palmer lucky is appealing authentically to that

I agree completely with what he says in the video - and there is a funny irony that he's talking about a company that makes drones that are really good at killing people

What he’s building could all be used against US citizens just as easily as it can be used to defend American values. Based on his politics he seems to have a poor grasp of the latter. But he’s compelling in interviews. Hopefully he has grown up a bit.

Ah I loved this interview. A part that struck was about having to do nonsense projects to make a fortune and then go on to solve the world’s problems. And how nearly impossible it is to start right away doing the latter.

Precisely why I debate leaving software and going back to school. Seems so hard to actually find purpose and meaning building tech, which always has a #1 goal of "make more money" (and so hard to find jobs where this isn't what it boils down to in software, tho I new those rare ones do exist).

I disagree. Some people prioritize stability over "solving big problems" which comes with inherent risks. It's safer to work at a big tech company like Google or Microsoft, where you can have a smaller impact, rather than some startup that might fail.
