two thoughts - changing your opinion should be appreciated and even celebrated; the only people who will get mad about you changing an opinion are fixed mindset mids (mostly) - optimizing for fun should be encouraged because it can mean optimizing for wealth; never fun to lose money (v different than spending money)

the challenging thing about #1 is that other people map your previously held opinions to your identity so changing your opinions in public after they feel "entrenched" is tough for a lot of people still gotta do it, but it takes more of a thick skin than it otherwise might in private

But does changing opinion really mean one is right tho And what if those that aren’t in favour of it aren’t actually the ones in the right (hypothetical situation).

optimizing for fun should be encouraged because it can mean optimizing for wealth; never fun to lose money (v different than spending money) If found this to be true. The more fun I have at what I do while having just some ways to monetize ~20% of it the higher my earnings have rose which I've been able to convert to wealth of some sort

yes we need to always have fun I’m a very firm believer that in social style interactions (work, sports, hobbies) if the entire group isn’t having fun then effort will start to wain social media is no different. Degen and ham worked because memeing with them was fun

I always say point #2 to on the podcast Participate and do what you vibe with With money you can afford to spend If you that, you’ll ALWAYS have fun! 🥳 Seems simple but I think sometimes people lose sight of that.

It depends on the opinion. If my previously held opinion cost you (your time, your job, your rights, your happiness, etc.) then before you celebrate my change of mind, you should expect a sincere apology. And while you celebrate, I should be sad for my mistake. Of course, if we're talking about the best way to cook potatoes, well, ok. But I guess we're talking about more serious topics.

I’ve had so many points in my life where I disagreed with what I formerly agreed with, and whenever that happens I celebrate growth The new perception, definitely might not be the ultimate perception but I celebrate being open minded, as I give myself the opportunity and FREEDOM to accept change, contradicting opinion, and something new

it’s okay to change your opinion if you realize you were wrong most people just don’t like being wrong, or admitting they are wrong

I wonder if there are ways to incentivize changing your mind. Or reward you for doing so and being right. @polymarket wdyt

yes, so long as you’re aren’t a jerk about your opinions. some people in tech circles use “strong opinions loosely held” as a cover story for being rude to people with less power (an unbecoming trait), then switching opinions as it suits them.

how many opinions are necessary to hold? of those held how many should be broadcast? of those broadcasted how many should be rebroadcasted on change? (rhetorical)

While it’s true that evolving opinions should be seen as a strength, it might sometimes cause issues if changes are perceived as inconsistency or indecisiveness, especially in contexts where stable positions are valued (e.g., leadership roles). Communication and context really matters.

Optimizing for fun is kinda the ingredient that’s missing from Warpcast imo. It’s fun, but it could be a lot more fun. 🤷🏻‍♂️

depends at the rate at which you change your opinion if you keep changing opinions fast, it's easy to start having double standards/morals changing opinions with good fundament and well researched takes time being consistent with your values is what makes you trustworthy
