i refuse to use farcaster until we can mute channels. i'm all for the /degen channel having fun, but the fact that speculative behavior and memecoin bullshit has overtaken my entire farcaster experience — even after muting + unfollowing users — is a major L. they have fun at all of our expense. lmk when its live.

I personally wouldn't go as far as to stop using FC but I get the sentiment. I suggested a mute channel functionality a long time ago. Unfollowing people is the current solution but it's definitely suboptimal. People contain multitudes and you don't want to stop following them because you don't like one topic.

I agree this is an existential risk to fc. After all, musk is just a supercharged channel on x, and if enough degens turn up and fill the space then the race to the bottom is on as the supercharged channels take over. Channels need to be like websites you can choose to never see and have your eyes burnt, IMO.

Overkill, but whatever brings you peace. And "at all of our expense" is also excessive. It's a social network, not The Hague. That said, YES, we should be able to mute channels to protect Trending and All Channels from oversaturation / content monopoly.

probably didn't unfollow enough, my feed is maybe 1% degen. Seems I am missing out on all the degen fun and have to visit the channel more often
