I tend to agree — I have many more followers here than I could achieve on X, but that’s almost entirely an accidental consequence of being early and the autofollow list (while it lasted).
I’m working full time + family so I have zero time to follow the meta on X. When I go there, I am missing the reference for half of the crypto tweets, and I feel like I need to browse for at least 30 minutes to get the background
The FC meta is the most I can handle, and even on occasions I’ll log in and have no idea what the top accounts are talking about (partly because of time zones, which mean I miss stuff as it happens stateside)
However in both cases, but much more so on X, I feel that the meta is often onanistic / circular / created out of thin air for its own sake. There’s not that much alpha in the meta, generally (and by alpha I mean fresh, insightful, novel, original takes that make me think differently and add to my mental model toolbox)
So I don’t feel like I’m missing much by staying out of it 1 reply
