What role does ETH mainnet play in this cycle? With so much attention being driven to L2s like @base it begs the question... are people ever going to use L1 again? Is that a bad thing if the answer is no? And what does that mean for ETH as a store of value? Discuss.

Think of L1 as Manhattan. It’s necessary for large institutions and even nation states to be present there, regardless of the cost. But an average person can get along just fine in a secondary or tertiary market (L2s). They can even grow a successful biz there. But they will rely on the financial infra in Manhattan.
