As someone that had a kid 5 months ago. That 5k would be spent in the first 6 weeks... On medical bills. And we had a pretty straightforward delivery, no c section, no crazy emergencies, just a regular delivery with an epidural. More than 7k out of pocket... And we're still getting random bills. All these things would be much preferable than not even costing birthing costs.

Exactly. Someone that would be swayed by 5k would be in a desperate situation and would see that 5k as a temporary solution. That's not the type of person that should be having a kid at that time.
