A fascinating aspect of human diversity is that, as The 1000 Genomes Project discovered, we are 99.9% identical in our genetic makeup. It's the variations in the remaining 0.1% of our DNA that contribute to the unique traits and characteristics that make each of us unique.

This effect is so true. I didn’t quite understand why some robots look so creepy.

Cultured meat, also known as lab-grown meat, is underrated. It elegantly solves multiple serious global problems, such as global warming, food security, resource inefficiency, and animal cruelty. A great solution can address multiple issues.

Centralized players on top of decentralized protocols continue to win. Gmail was built on SMTP. GitHub was built on Git. Coinbase is built on blockchains.

@philipliao and I were trying to onboard someone into crypto last night. I realized how complex and difficult it still is for non-crypto savvy people to join the crypto world. We have been making good progress, but there is still a lot to work on!

Am I the only one who feels like I need to prepare my mind differently to spend time well at events after work? Especially after focusing on coding, I feel like I need to switch to a very different state of mind to mingle with people.

Startups often don't have to be the first to come up with a new idea. Carpool services and room-sharing services existed before Uber and Airbnb. Search engines existed before Google. But they were different from the existing solutions in a meaningful way. For example, Google's main goal was not just to build search engines. It was "to improve the quality of web search engines" in a scalable way. They were aware of the problems in the existing search engines, and addressed them in their paper: http://infolab.stanford.edu/~backrub/google.html

We overestimate what technology can achieve in a year and underestimate what it can achieve in ten years.

Duolingo’s market coverage is impressive. My nephew told me that he’s playing with it too.

How about a dating app where you can find matches based on minor common interests? Existing dating apps suck partly because there is no easy way to find a partner with minor common interests. Everybody in the Bay Area likes hiking, and that’s not how you connect with others.

It is said that when a security guard found that Donald Trump was being shot, the guard told Trump, 'Donald, duck!' Just a joke my roommate told me. :)
