near-AGI agents achieving subjective consensus is likely, but wouldn't they need to post their "state" to an objective strict consensus layer periodically? Otherwise how can, say, multiple AGI agents work together over extended period of time? From a user PoV, wouldn't payments, physical and digital asset ownership, legal contracts etc need to be posted to a "objective and final" layer for there to be trust in ownership of these assets? Very thought provoking post though!

For data heavy apps like YT and TikTok, who's going to pay for the decentralised storage costs though...

When can we increase the number of target blobs/block from the current very conservative 3? Will optimism make a concerted push for specing, testing and implementing PeerDAS at Pectra? (you should!)

We should absolutely not stop at 4844 because of this For a start, number of blobs per block should be increased from the current 3 to 6 or 9, maybe within 6 months if demand is sufficient PeerDAS should also be shipped well before Verkle trees, in a standalone HF is needed

> earlier super intelligence -> more risk Why? Seems like an unfair default framing Earlier super intelligence = automated crop production, faster therapies for chronic illnesses, life extension, colonisation of near space etc all of which dramatically extend humanities p(survival beyond the next 100 years)

Here, as promised, how The Verge leads to Ethereum L1 scaling https://polynya.mirror.xyz/epju72rsymfB-JK52_uYI7HuhJ-W_zM735NdP7alkAQ

Tbh scaling the tx (execution) capacity of the L1 *has* been abandoned. None of the upgrades in distant memory nor Dencun improves this aspect at all. Now that changes to eip1559/PoS/DA capacity have been shipped, I hope eip4444 become a major focus of the next HF, + regular async gas limit increases.

No, the meme conveys that ETH has properties of sound money (low inflation, constant demand from gas fees burnt), which in turn increases its monetary premium, which in turn secures the network better. Network security is the key goal, with ethereum being a PoS chain. Price action by itself was never the meme

Tbh im not sure journalists, simply by their title, are good people nor desirable people. We just broadly want more people (journos included) joining the crypto space out of a desire to held build a better coordinated future, and not just to make a 2x by dumping bags on a greater fool.

Token gated channels built into the farcaster app natively would be wild Each channel creator has the option to create a bonding curve with parameters such as max tokens that can be customized...FC gets a small cut of sales so it's a direct monetisation approach as well Friendtech but with organic use. @dwr.eth bls

Scaling by execution layer sharding was the original plan. Dropped cos takes too long to implement on L1, but most importantly: the modular approach allows maximal experimentation/customisation/bazaar style design of diverse execution layers for diverse usecases, none of which the base layer could possibly anticipate

In the above link, Dankrad discusses how execution and DA can be scaled *without* sacrificing decentralisation by Rollups and DAS, respectively. Which is the Ethereum roll-up centric approach to scaling "Scaling by ultra-capacity hardware which kills decentralisation" is not what he said.

Vitalik has spoken up about the values of the Cosmos eco before, and ofc famously highlighted the merits of the Solana ecosystem during it's lowest point in 2022, so he's not above speaking about specific projects/tokens if that's the limitation here.

You're mostly jesting, but tbh I *am* somewhat peeved there's no attempt by him to reinforce why we chose the roll-up centric approach to scaling, when everyone's losing their minds over an L1 that is optimized to be a settlement layer only. Messaging matters, especially when there's a burst of new comers each cycle

Validators nor miners are subjected to OFAC, afaik. Some relayers are only passing OFAC-compliant blocks to validators, but this is less than 35% of total blocks built by Ethereum https://www.mevwatch.info/

Beyond just the node requirement (although that's a big one) Multi-client architecture A culture of refining towards making the base layer as censorship-resistant as possible Solana is far behind eth on this, and actively laughs at some of these ideals
