Ehhh not really. It just looks better. Think of it this way: the more followers/connections you have, the more "legit" you look. Anyone can make a spam account. But it takes a lot of work to get that many "fake" connections.

Makes sense I have like 14 rando's just waiting in limbo because they are complete strangers to me but asked to connect. Some don't even realize I left my old industry (education).

Ayyye I was in education too. Just accept them, it doesn't hurt. Unless they DM you with a pitch or a creepy compliment. Then block immediately. LinkedIn isn't Facebook; you want to connect with new people who could help you with your new ventures.
