4. But I'm answering this question through the limited lenses of /football and /frontend, channels where it's pretty easy to arrive at a universally consensus on whether a cast is spam or not.

depends on level of "fuck it we ball" you want /tabletop is very niche but big channel, focus on quality posts with images/discussion posts. very little crypto stuff, wish had on-topic crypto tbh. kind of a PoM (Proof of Meeple) to post in there atm vs /replyguys very spammy imo but gets lots traction Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

This was actually kind of hard to answer. Spam sucks but authoritarianism does too.

Spam is definitely a concern, but we need to make sure we don't stifle farcaster culture in an attempt to reduce it

I think a balanced approach is needed. Or moderation tools need to be deployed to let the community police it themselves, on the individual level. If this is even possible.

Users should just be able to mute channels so that they never see a cast made in a channel they don’t care about. As for spam in the channel, it should be up to the channel founders to set the tone. Some mods will be strict and others will value feedback from existing community members.

4. Since much of web2 social is overrun with spam being strong on spam here is a good way to differentiate. Also seems more important here because of the strong financial incentive to spam in web3 & since FC is shaping up to be the face of consumer crypto in this new cycle. We want FC reflect the best of crypto.

Leaning towards 3; spam is absolute garbage, but also don't know of a utilitarian way to remove it.

It feels awkward to moderate the content layer as it invariably leads to people getting up in arms about the result. Recommendation algorithms should be more transparent and customisable so everyone gets their sweet spot

I would lean towards rather censoring spam more than less. Its poisoning so many socialfi projects.
