Just listened to this pod with Phil Daian from 2018 and it was about the state growth problem. It's interesting that 5 years later Ethereum still hasn't solved it. There's plans to solve it using stateless clients but they are years away

Characterizing verkle tries as "years away" is abusing the plural for dramatic effect IMO.
