as an adhd-er, folding laundry is something i have to force myself to start, but once i do it feels easy bc i’m neatly folding things and putting em away and my brain likes that. ngl having my laundry done and magically put away where it belongs was definitely better. but noooo i had to move to a different country to start adulting 💀

Wow having someone do it for you sounds nice. I don’t even have a dishwasher! 🤣

perks of living at home with parents (in india) hehe. this cast made me realize not having a dishwasher is common??! @rodrigobardin said his apartment didn’t have one until he moved to the new one recently. my idea of life in the west is obv not remotely accurate lol

from my experience, it wasn't as common in Brazil - my family never had one, neither my friends' and i think it was mostly seen as a 'luxury' thing. but also bc my dad used to work for the water company and was always skeptical of the 'saving water' part of dishwashers. but i think it's fairly common in Europe? My previous flat was small + I lived there by myself, so I didn't bother despite having the plug available in the kitchen.

I consider a dishwasher a luxury at this point. Also having in-unit or in-building laundry. I went to the laundromat for a long time.

Not at all! I truly believe different places have different norms. When I lived in Arizona, both of the places I lived in had dishwashers and laundry. When I lived in Michigan during college all of my apartments had it.

ok ok. tbf in unit laundry is a must bc i would just forget i put laundry in the common laundry room for half a day and suddenly remember at 10pm and have a heart attack and run to the opp end of the floor. happened too often when i was in LA during grad school. the signs of adhd were clearly there, i just didn’t know that’s what it was. 😂😂😂 now that i do, a lot of things are a must or non negotiable and i file them under the adhd tax to make life easier and more manageable.
