As part of Re-Public, I'm setting up a private VPS for each user and connecting their phone via the app. So potentially a full node could run in the VPS and the user could access Ethereum directly via a node they own/control ... kind of a half-way point to running a full node on the phone itself. https://re-public.io

That’s the plan. Allow developers to build apps around personal data without ever seeing or storing it via open standard schemas. Then the Re-Public dev community builds the data connectors that hydrate the models once the app is loaded in the personal cloud
