Youre getting lost in the terminology.

It's not the amount of people that consume the information that folks are complaining about.

It's the institution's way of presenting information through MSM that people are complaining about

The mainstream of people who are consuming podcasts instead of news is equally as problematic because these podcasts have the same incentives as trad media

You're comparing independent media to a corporate printing press on the largest of scales 

You don't have 100 podcasts coming out the same day saying the EXACT same thing. But you see that in corporate media.

They are literally fed what they should say and when they should say it.

If you don't see that, I can't help you

They both want more viewers for advertising ≠ they have the same incentives

Corporate media could have zero viewers and would still be in business because they are subsidized by institutions to push their programming 

Their goal is to say an idea enough times that people who can't think for themselves assume that whatever their saying must be true.

Yes JRE makes its money from advertising, but they only came to him because his network is so large. And they would also leave him if that changed (unlike MSM)

Their goals are different, their incentives are different, their message is different.

I’m not sure why you’re being so negative about what I do and don’t know lol. I agree that institutional media is run and controlled by corporate interest (and individual families a la Murdoch), but it would be naive to think podcasts, which are produced and need to be advertised, do not bend to those same kind of interests 

My preferred media is public radio fwiw
