@optimism is building the future of web3 and we are so excited to review their accessibility with a user test! Below I share some key things we learned during the audit to make things better for the 1 in 5 with a disability. 🧵👇 https://zora.co/collect/base:0x5353a107281637bf131b9602689e01b7e4f03437/13/frames

At 1:00 you can hear that the headings are not logically structured. But on top of that, there is more than one H1 heading. Headings ensure users (and search engines) can properly index your website, and easily navigate and understand the purpose of your page.

Screen readers use heading hierarchy as one was you can navigate down a page. Throughout the whole audit, the pop-up was not clearly labeled, and the user had no ability to tab onto the pop-up and either agree or exit.

At 8:08 we have a huge accessibility win - the website contains all landmarks / regions (nav tags for header, main, and footer). Allowing users to navigate through the key content with ease.

At 8:30 he mentioned the need to add a skip to main content link on every page, as it’ll allow screen readers to tab through the menu and no need to try find where the main content starts.

At 9:20 the user clicks on the Bridge link but because there are no main headings, this is a critical issue. There is one in the pop-up but not on the page itself. 11:05 There is an unlabelled button before the connect wallet button.

Above are just a few of the many improvements and celebrations mentioned in the user test so make sure you have a listen! And if you want to support us to do more of these for other companies, feel free to mint the user test! The funds go directly back into helping us do more of this. The first 10-mints are free!
