Tonight my 60+ year old father-in-law asked me to help get him setup with Crypto (he’s always trying to learn the latest stuff; super smart guy). Got him setup with the Coinbase wallet in less than 2 mins, sent him some USDC on Base for free, and sent him an NFT. This is the way. 🔵

On another note he asked really good questions that you don’t think twice about, like “what are tokens” and what’s their purpose. Also the challenge of explaining DeFi concepts. In the end he was amazed: “it’s like being in a sci-fi novel but it’s actually happening”

Man I wish I could convince him but he’s not the biggest on social media formats like Farcaster/Twitter, primarily uses LinkedIn Facebook and surprisingly YouTube. He’s actually a fairly known fraud accountant, author, and even teaches classes on ChatGPT to other accountants. 1/2

I think it was genuine curiosity! He’s been a fraud accountant for 30 years and has been interested in crypto since I met him, as he thinks it’s not going away anytime soon. I also work in the industry so we get to talk about it all the time when I see him. He’s always eager to learn the latest and greatest 🔥

I’m not too sure tbh; felt out of the blue. He’s not going to invest a lot of money into it as of course he’s a stable accountant that trusts the s&p 500 more haha. It’s likely due to my job being in the industry and our convos about it

What prompted him to want to get involved?

I used to work customer service for a local bank so I certainly have lots of experience doing it 😂 But like I said he’s really smart and can do most tech related stuff himself. He’s run his own blog for 10+ years and a YouTube channel for 2+ years

Sure! Just USDC on Base. To me stable coins are a great start because there’s no price fluctuation distractions. Gives a good foundation to introduce the idea of other tokens vs ether / bitcoin
