As an elder millennial, Iām genuinely perplexed by Gen Alpha fashion. Why are so many kids dressed like a Handmaid or Amish farmer? And rocking iPod Nanos? Are we just⦠fully ironic now? Fashion. People. Whatās up?!

IMHO, fashion is about self expression. Some of us grew up learning about fashion by reading well curated magazines & observing thoughtfully styled looks. I used to read GQ magazine in high school lol ⦠But the internet has pretty much wiped those magazines out. Add social media to the mix, and now we have a generation of people with no clear fashion identity. I was honestly horrified when I first started seeing people wearing pajama pants and Crocs in public; itās become the norm for some. I remember when my daughter went to college she asked me why I didnāt wear sweatpants; I jokingly answered for the same reason I didnāt let her watch the Kardashains growing up š Unfortunately in social media, itās not the smartest voice that shapes trends, itās the loudest. I could go on forever complaining about TikTok, but Iāll stop here.

šÆ After moving back stateside I'm still so shocked to see people wearing pajama bottoms or yoga pants in public. Like, these folks are not rolling through this market on their way home from a fitness class. They put on those leggings intentionally.

How about nurses walking outside in scrubs? Iād imagine if you wearing scrubs outside they are not really sanitized⦠Although I wouldnāt put pajamas pants and yoga pants on the same category; and not because I help build an athleisure brand :) but because yoga pants purpose are different than pajamas jejeje
