Group chats rule the world. Over the last few years I’ve seen most conversation switch to small group chats. I tried to write down what I see common between them. https://sriramk.com/group-chats-rule-the-world/

would argue this is the way it has always been, as you point out with a 1930s article on dinner parties high value small discussions are the constant, the tool / software to facilitate them is what has evolved

great write up! personally i probably send 80-90% of my messages in group chats versus individual chats also has me thinking about how channels on farcaster are the closest thing to group chats i’ve seen on social 100 $degen

Yes! This maps 💯% to how we are thinking about group scale. Groups of less than 10 people drive all the high-bandwith creative collaboration. Larger group scales play their part but novelty and innovation always come from small groups.

This has increasingly been my experience. Thanks for putting it into words. An aside, channels on Farcaster seem to be at the size where they fit in-between group chats and twitter feeds.

I built an app just for this a few years ago, small groups of 8 or less around topics, private or random users. But never got it to go anywhere (admittedly terrible at everything but building)

I can attest that dinner parties at @aarthi and @sriramk.eth's house are elite.

Been mulling this over in my head for a bit too. Thank you for writing this. About to read the 2 hour Cocktail Party as well for when you move from online to irl.

Whats the best way to get invited to more group chats like this? My existing social circles do not have the behaviors and norms you’ve written about, and I’m not in the valley or in a people facing role.
