Yes, I’ve since learned that that’s the case, so I’ll back off the shock a bit. Still odd to me that PayPal wouldn’t want to eek out some gas optimization given the scale they surely want to achieve.

I liked Paxos code (throwbacks are fun) but agree, their dev team could have easily had red carpet rolled out to deploy mintable/Burnable OZ token that saves a lot of money at scale.

Real issue—OZ and others do not have account-specific permissions. So Paxos can say, since already custodian, use what ain’t broke.
