Don’t deviate too much from your training— believe in yourself that the most important prep has been going on for months. One of the worst I’ve felt in a race was taking a free gu from a rest stop in a flavor I’d never tried, rather than sticking with the gu I’d brought with me. Also HAVE FUN!

Take your taper seriously. Drink more water than you think you’ll need days ahead of time. Find the right pacer. They’ll help you start well & keep you going when it’s hard. Sleep well the night before. Don’t fuel a whole lot differently than you’ve trained or it’ll mess you up.

Go at your rythm. It is easy to go faster because other run faster and you will try to keep up just to boycott yourself. You are competing against you, so know your limits and have fun.

Nothing new on race day. And start slow. Good luck!
