counterpoint: tiktok? I don't use it but it's had a big influence on the pop landscape I think the fundamental problem is that listening to a song takes at minimum like 2 minutes, whereas you can process an image (at least superficially) within less than a second, and a short text post in a handful of seconds. so you can scroll through a feed of those, which doesn't work so well with music because it requires more time

tiktok (+ ig reels) is probably the best example of a social platform catering towards sharing music, but the platform makes songs *trend* it doesn't necessarily make sharing music *easy* you're right of course. music is the hardest form of media to share because it's long and lacks visuals
